Just wow!
Welcome to the Breitling Sion Air Show, the largest air
show in Switzerland!
The Breitling Sion Air Show is a celebration of flight in
all its shapes and at the heart of the Alps.
The exceptional nature of this event is enhanced by
the idyllic setting and by the striking complement of
aircraft blending with the natural beauty of the
landscape, before rising in the sky to amaze the
spectators.
History
The Valais Air Club has been involved with air
gatherings for a long time. In 1982, 1986, 1989 and
1997, planes filled the Valais sky for the enjoyment of a
great audience. Air shows are not a recent
phenomenon. On October 2nd 1910, the first Swiss air
show took place in Avenche, with the presence of three
famous pilots: Failloubaz, Grandjean and Cailler. On
May 11th 1913, the first "aviation day" took place in
Sion. In August 1919 and 1920, aviation days were
held in Montana. But it wasn't until later that
attendance at these shows really took off. The 1966 Air
show was the first of these great events and was
followed by air shows in the 1982, 1986, 1989 and 1997
(100,000 paying spectators), as well as a smaller event
in 2001.
With the passion and enthusiasm of the organizing
committee and the oversight of the Sion Airshow
Association and its partners, this will be a celebration
worth remembering.
